1. The Perfect Fonts

Selecting a unique font will take you out floating on the most commonly used fonts. We can you any font but following some guidelines makes it better. The font we choose on a resume plays an important role.

  • Size matters, keep the font size between 11 to 13 pt.
  • Follow a consistent font size for headers and text
  • Choose a font pair like Sans serif or Sans serif + serif fonts (please avoid using comic sans ).

Try using Serif fonts as they are associated with professional settings. If you are looking for creative or design-oriented jobs, use Sans serif fonts. Combine fonts to create a unique style.

2. Noticeable Contact Info

Make it easy for them, yes make the contact info visually clear by placing it on the top of your resume. If you are submitting your resume digitally, make sure the links are live. For example, the mail id can be made a hyperlink.
Adding social media links varies according to the job industry.

  • Importance of White space
    For a professional and minimalistic design, make your design breath. Use white space to pop out the contact info. Use it to break the contents so it can be more pleasing for the eyes.
  • Using Icons
    Icons make the contact info visually prominent. Add similar icons for contact entries.

3. Separate Your Contents

Keep the resume structured. Usually, the officials won't spend much time on every resume. You need to stand out to get the maximum while HR or any official is going through your resume.

  • Add Columns
    Your resume will be more readable and interesting if you divide your content into columns. How to do so is completely up to you.
  • Follow a Format
    Use headings, subheadings, and bullet lists for lengthier content. Don't make it a mess with lengthier texts. Sometimes less is more.

4. Following the Etiquettes

The role you’re applying for influences your resume design. Create multiple resumes according to the target companies. If you are applying to a design industry, consider adding some colors or elements to showcase your skills.

  • Making it Clean & Unique
    Make the texts clean and spacious while adding elements to stand out as unique.

5. Submission

Designing the perfect resume and saving it in the wrong format would be a disaster. If it is messed up while opening your resume, you can be undervalued by just this small important error. Try saving your file in a PDF format.

Naming the file name is also important. Yes!, details are important. Include your first name and last name with “resume” as the filename. This makes things a lot easier for everyone.
